사업 내용
미로 국제 네트워크는 도시의 미래와 예술의 확장 가능성을 탐색하기 위해 구축된 국제 예술 교류 플랫폼이다. 본 플랫폼은 국내외에서 활발히 활동하는 큐레이터 6인의 추천을 통해 선정된 예술가들이 참여하며, 서로 다른 문화적 배경과 도시 경험을 가진 창작자들이 협력적 창작 과정을 통해 예술·기술·도시 간의 새로운 관계를 모색한다. 단순한 전시 교류를 넘어, 도시의 변화와 디지털 기술이 만들어내는 감각적 전환을 예술적으로 해석하고, 미래 사회의 도시문화 구조를 실험적으로 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
오늘날 도시를 구성하는 핵심 요소는 물리적 공간뿐 아니라 데이터, 네트워크, 인공지능, 센서 기술 등 다양한 디지털 인프라로 확장되고 있다. 미로 국제 네트워크는 이러한 기술 환경 속에서 예술이 단순히 기술을 활용하는 수단을 넘어, 기술과 인간, 물리적 장소를 포함한 시공간의 관계를 다시 구성하는 역할을 수행한다고 본다. 특히 기술적 효율성 중심의 ‘스마트 시티’ 개념을 인간 중심의 감각적 환경으로 재해석하며, 예술을 통해 도시의 새로운 정체성과 감각적 경험을 창출하는 방향을 지향한다.
본 플랫폼은 메타버스 기반 전시와 온라인 라운드 테이블을 중심으로 운영되며, 중장기적으로는 국제 워크숍, 공동 연구 및 학술 포럼, 레지던시 프로그램 등으로 발전될 예정이다. 이를 통해 예술, 기술, 도시, 학문 간의 경계를 넘나드는 융합적 교류의 장을 조성하고, 참여자 간의 지속 가능한 협력 네트워크를 구축하고자 한다. 각 참여 작가는 자신이 속한 도시의 사회적·문화적 맥락을 출발점으로 삼아, 디지털 매체를 매개로 한 예술적 실험과 담론 생산에 참여한다. 라운드 테이블은 시공간적 제약을 넘어 국제적인 협력 네트워크를 형성하며, 토론과 기록을 통해 향후 공동 프로젝트, 전시, 학술 연구로 확장될 수 있는 기반을 마련한다.
예술적 방향의 측면에서 미로 국제 네트워크는 기술을 통해 도시를 새롭게 감각하고, 익숙한 풍경을 낯설게 전환하는 예술적 시도를 중점에 둔다. 기술은 인간의 몸과 감각, 그리고 장소의 관계를 끊임없이 변화시키며, 예술은 그 변화를 시각적·청각적·공간적으로 재해석함으로써 도시의 인식 구조를 새롭게 만든다. 참여 예술가들의 작업은 도시를 단순한 물리적 장소가 아닌, 사회적 관계와 데이터 흐름, 그리고 감각의 층위가 복합적으로 얽힌 생태계로 바라보게 한다.
미로 국제 네트워크는 단기적인 예술 프로젝트에 머무르지 않고, 지속 가능한 국제 협력 생태계로서의 운영 기반을 구축하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 국내외 예술기관, 기술 연구소, 공공기관과의 연계 협력을 확대하고, 국제 라운드테이블 및 온라인 교류 플랫폼을 지속가능한 형태로 발전시켜나갈 예정이다. 이러한 네트워크형 구조를 통해, 도시의 미래와 예술의 사회적 역할에 대한 다층적인 논의를 촉진하고, 향후 도시정책 및 문화예술 정책 수립에도 참고될 수 있는 모델을 제시하고자 한다.
궁극적으로 본 플랫폼은 예술·도시·기술이 교차하는 지점에서 발생하는 다양한 감각적 실험과 사회적 대화를 통해, 예술이 도시의 변화를 해석하고 공동체적 상상력을 확장하는 매개체로 작동할 수 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 지속적 국제 협력 체계는 향후 지역 간 문화 격차를 해소하고, 디지털 전환 시대의 예술 생태계를 확장하는 중요한 기초 인프라로 기능하게 될 것이다.

Project Description
The Miro International Network is an international art exchange platform established to explore the future of cities and the expanding possibilities of art. The platform brings together artists recommended by six curators actively engaged both in Korea and abroad, fostering collaboration among creators with diverse cultural backgrounds and urban experiences. Through these collaborative creative processes, the network seeks to reimagine the relationships among art, technology, and the city. Beyond simple exhibition exchange, it aims to interpret the sensory transformations brought about by urban change and digital technology, and to experimentally propose new cultural frameworks for future urban life.
In today’s cities, the key components extend beyond physical space to include data, networks, artificial intelligence, and sensor technologies that form a complex digital infrastructure. Within this environment, the Miro International Network regards art not merely as a means of employing technology, but as a practice that reconfigures the relationship among technology, humanity, and the spatial-temporal dimensions of physical places. In particular, it reinterprets the concept of the “smart city,” traditionally centered on technological efficiency, as a human-centered and sensory environment. Through art, the network seeks to generate new urban identities and sensory experiences.
This year, the platform’s main activities are centered on a metaverse-based exhibition and an online roundtable. In the mid-to-long term, it will expand to include international workshops, collaborative research programs, academic forums, and artist residencies. Through these programs, the network fosters interdisciplinary exchanges that transcend the boundaries among art, technology, urban studies, and academia, while building a sustainable framework for collaboration among participants. Each participating artist begins with the social and cultural context of their own city and engages in artistic experimentation and discourse mediated by digital media. The roundtable program establishes an international network that transcends spatial and temporal boundaries, providing a foundation for future collaborative projects, exhibitions, and academic research through dialogue and documentation.
From an artistic perspective, the platform focuses on artistic practices that re-sense the city through technology and transform familiar landscapes into unfamiliar experiences. Technology continuously reshapes the relationships between the human body, sensory experience, and place, while art reinterprets these changes through visual, auditory, and spatial languages, renewing our cognitive structures of the urban environment. The participating artists’ works encourage us to perceive the city not as a fixed physical location, but as an evolving ecosystem interwoven with social relations, data flows, and layers of sensory experience.
The Miro International Network aims to go beyond short-term artistic projects and establish a sustainable foundation for international collaboration. To achieve this, it plans to expand partnerships with art institutions, technology research centers, and public organizations, while developing its international roundtables and online exchange platforms in a sustainable and long-term format. Through this network-based structure, the platform seeks to foster multidimensional discussions on the future of cities and the social role of art, and to propose a model that could serve as a reference for future urban and cultural policy development.
Ultimately, this platform shows how art, through sensory experimentation and social dialogue at the nexus of city and technology, can mediate urban change and widen collective imagination. This ongoing framework for international cooperation will serve as a crucial foundation to reduce regional cultural disparities and expand the art ecosystem in the era of digital transformation.
